Katy Wright is a Snodgrass family glass blower who has began her career as a lampworker in 2015. She was taught with traditional methods and uses classic shapes as her vessels, while utilizing colors and patterns. Color is a magical thing that can trigger feelings and memories the same way as smells and sounds. It’s special to her that this medium of art has a function in its owners life and is something the owner can spend time with every day and build their own relationship with over time. She focuses on symmetry with her work and sees it as balance in a world that can seem unstable at times. Katy hopes to continue on this path and thinks there are many ways that these lines and colors can be shifted and combined to create new patterns to inspire herself, the customer, and the glass art movement overall. Each piece is one of a kind and made with handmade linework tubing.
